Keynote Speakers

We are delighted to announce that Devouring: Food, Drink and the Written Word, 1800-1945 will feature two keynote papers, provided by Professor Nicola Humble (University of Roehampton) and Dr. Margaret Beetham (University of Salford). The research and publications of both these prolific scholars – which, between them, covers a wealth of topics, including 19th century food adulteration, Victorian periodical culture, the female reader in both the 19th and 20th centuries, global histories of food and the evolution of the British cookbook – has been of the topmost inspiration in putting this conference together.
